Hydroponic Water Chillers: Maintaining Optimal Temperatures for Hydroponic Systems

Hydroponic Water Chillers: Maintaining Optimal Temperatures for Hydroponic Systems

Problem:

In certain climates, hydroponic systems can experience water temperatures that are harmful to plants.

Warm water reduces the plant's ability to absorb dissolved oxygen, hindering growth and overall plant performance.

This issue is particularly prevalent during summer months.

Additionally, warm water increases the risk of pests and mold development.

Ideal Conditions:

The optimal water temperature range for most hydroponic systems is between 65-75 degrees Fahrenheit.

If the reservoir temperature exceeds 75 degrees Fahrenheit, a water chiller is necessary.

Hydroponic water chillers are an effective solution for maintaining ideal temperatures (65-70 degrees Fahrenheit).

Solution: Lando Hydroponic Water Chillers

Lando Hydroponic water chillers work in conjunction with the water pump to cool the water, ensuring adequate oxygen absorption by the plants.

These chillers are installed outside the reservoir, and sometimes outside the grow room.

Submersible chillers are generally not recommended for hydroponic applications.

Choosing the Right Chiller:

The most critical factor in selecting a water chiller is its power capability, measured in horsepower (HP).

Chillers range from 1/10 HP to 3 HP(LD-1/4HP LD-1-3/4HP LD-1HP LD-1.5HP).

An improperly sized chiller (either too powerful or not powerful enough) will lead to inefficient operation or inadequate cooling.
